Since the start of the pandemic, consumers have sought alternatives to recreate the convenience and experience of going out. Additionally, research shows opportunities for low-calorie drinks with natural ingredients and unique flavors; with most RTD seltzers weighing in at 5% ABV, there is an untapped market for products with higher ABV. Most importantly, as shown by the success of White Claw, branding must be gender-neutral to appeal to a broader audience. Our new seltzer line weaves these new opportunities in the market with industry trends that have already proven success.

01. Research

Research showed that top trends were products that have a low calorie count, use natural or exotic ingredients, and were aesthetically pleasing. The majority of RTD hard beverages contain around 5% ABV, presenting an opportunity for drinks with higher ABV. With a health and wellness trend that shows no signs of slowing down, as well as the ever increasing importance of social media, all signs pointed to a healthier-for-you product that was beautiful enough to be shared online. White Claw's success is largely attributed to its gender-neutral branding; in tandem with consumer tastes moving away from beer and wine, it is more important than ever to lean into gender-neutral marketing.

02. Determining User Needs

With the personas of Nadia and Jason, the pain points began to reveal themselves. Consumers need a convenient, affordable product that is better for their health and still tastes good. From here, I then began to form the brand strategy.

We make hard seltzers and classics with a twist, all at an affordable price that everyone can enjoy.
